The first caravan of carbon fiber in the world has 11 meters long and cost as much as a house

Carbon fiber is a wonderful material, which is used for a long time in the world of Formula 1 and that came a few years and the universe car. Now, however, carbon fiber came into the world and hobbyists outings because the first trailer was unveiled with carbon fiber body in the world.
GCT CR-1 is the world's first caravan was built entirely of carbon fiber and, well, it really impressed. First, it is very difficult to create large panels of carbon fiber, but it seems Americans from GCT managed to do this, because their prototype measured almost 11 meters long. Moreover, various body panels were bolted, but were bonded by special, which makes the CR-1 one of the world's most rigid caravans.

Trailer weight of about 2.7 tonnes, about two times less than a trailer of the same size built by traditional methods. In everyday life, low weight lowers fuel consumption considerably. In fact, the creators of the monster carbon fiber is estimated that the fuel economy will be between 100% and 150% compared to an ordinary caravan.
Development began in September 2013 and within six months from then until now, GCT has worked with the company Dallara, which specializes in the IndyCar race cars.
The production version of the CR-1 will be presented only at the end of this year and production will start in the first months of 2015. As you can imagine, innovation is not very cheap, basic price of approximately US $ 170,000 . For those with more generous bank accounts, GCT will offer a custom made model that will even reach 770,000 dollars. A huge amount that can be explained by the use of new manufacturing technologies, but also amenities such as a real bathroom, a solar power system of 700 W, variable transparency windows, an electricity generator and a controlled multimedia system PC applications, iOS or Android.
